We believe in giving back to the community. Our organization and employees are involved in a number of activities designed to share our good fortune with others. The following describes some of the ways we have reached out to help those in need.

SENSE Charter School

Over the past year and a half, Gilchrist and Soames has partnered with Southeast Neighborhood School of Excellence (SENSE) in a number of ways. SENSE is a free public charter school that serves grades K-6 in the southeast neighborhood of Indianapolis. SENSE is committed to the families and children in the southeast community. Last spring, SENSE held its first Volunteer Tea to thank the dedicated parents and community members that give their time and energy to SENSE students and teachers. Gilchrist and Soames provided baskets filled with bath products for each of the SENSE volunteers. Gilchrist and Soames employees have also donated a significant amount of time at SENSE. These volunteers have teamed up with the primary grades to assist teachers during guided reading. They go to school every week and work with small groups of students in kindergarten through second grade.

Coburn Place

Based in Indianapolis, Coburn Place Safe Haven provides safe, affordable housing and supportive services to women and children who are homeless because of leaving an abusive situation. Gilchrist & Soames provides gift baskets of toiletry items for incoming residents and those attending their Thanksgiving meal.

Gleaners Food Bank

Gilchrist & Soames has donated hundreds of pounds of shampoos, soaps, and other products to Gleaners Food Bank, which collects and distributes food and other products to charities that feed the hungry throughout the greater Indianapolis area.

Product Donations

We have very high quality standards at Gilchrist & Soames, and we strive to ship out only those products that meet our rigorous standards. When we have aesthetic issues that do not meet those standards, such as off-centered labels, we make this product available to local non-profit organisations at no cost. More recently, we have begun to use some of this product to build personal care kits for several branches of the US military so that they may be given to those soldiers who are deployed overseas.

Holiday Giving

Every holiday season, our employees sponsor needy families. Our employees donate food, new clothing, gifts, and their time to help spread holiday cheer to several families.

Blood Drives

Gilchrist & Soames regularly sponsors blood drives to help replenish local area blood banks.
